Summer has come and all of us try to enjoy the sun and the sea with the adequate protections. Our main advices are avoiding excessive sunlight, especially at midday , adopting a proper sunscreen and maintain a diet rich in antioxidants. Three are the more recommended fruits of the season:
• Blackberry: it has proved to be very effective, as indeed all the fruits of the forest, against sunlight thanks to its remarkable properties of antioxidants and modulator of cellular stress;
• Spice: (tamarind) the fruit of African origin, has proved similar protective effects, with a protection from adverse effects of solar radiation on collagen producing cells (cells of extracellular matrix);
• Walnut: it has also an interesting role in protection from sunlight since it proved to be very significant in the protection of cells under oxidative stress, especially mediating mitochondrial damage (i.e. organelles, that inside the cell are used, among other things, to produce energy).
A diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables in season, that uses “anti-inflammatory” spices and that abounds with a lot of good fats like the ones that can be found into fresh oilseeds (walnuts, almonds, pine nuts..) is healthy and can make skin better know how exploiting its defenses.
